Staying safe on site
For: Professionals · Venues · Private individuals
Every shift takes place on site: whoever provides the premises is responsible for their safety, the professional arranges their own cover, and in immediate danger the emergency call comes first.
Warning: If there is immediate danger, call the police (110) or the emergency services (112) first. A report to Sunworker does not replace an emergency call. Afterwards you can report the incident.
At a glance
- Who is responsible for the premises: the client. A venue or private individual is liable for the premises, equipment and safety on site, as towards any other service provider, and points out hazards.
- Who arranges their own cover: the professional. As a self-employed person, they are responsible for their own insurance.
- What Sunworker does: arranges the match. Sunworker is not a party to the Shift Contract and is not liable for the work itself or for damage that occurs during a shift. The details of liability are set out in the Terms and Conditions.
Before the shift
If you run a venue
- Point out hazards, such as hot equipment, cleaning agents or steps in the storeroom.
- Agree what is needed on site: access as well as hygiene and safety requirements.
- Add directions to the entrance and name a contact person who can be reached.
- Check with your insurer whether your business liability insurance covers damage caused by self-employed service providers on site.
If you work as a professional
- Business liability insurance is strongly recommended. You can upload it as a credential; once it has been checked, your profile shows the “Insured” badge.
- You are not covered by the venue's statutory accident insurance. Depending on your work, insurance with the Berufsgenossenschaft (the statutory accident insurance institution for your trade) is compulsory – clarify this before your first shift.
- For shifts involving food, you need a checked, valid food hygiene certificate; otherwise you cannot accept them.
- The address, contact person and directions for the site appear in the shift itself once it has been confirmed.
If you book privately
- Point out hazards, such as a faulty cooker, steep stairs or a dog.
- Check your personal liability insurance and your home contents insurance.
- The professional only sees your address once the booking has been confirmed, in the shift itself.
On site
The client may set hygiene, safety and house rules that apply to everyone on site – they are part of working together. How you otherwise treat each other is explained in Respect during a shift.
Your data around the shift
- If your device sends a location at check-in or check-out, only the professional can see it. The client only learns the time.
- You only get the other side's phone number and email address once you share a shift that is confirmed, running or completed.
- Phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses and links in messages are hidden before delivery – to protect against fraud and harassment.
After an accident or damage
- Provide first aid first and call the emergency services if needed.
- Record what happened: time, place, people involved. Photos help later when clarifying things.
- Inform your insurer and settle the matter with the other side.
- If the shift was stopped early, the professional submits the actual time with the reason; the client disputes it if it is not right. More in Check-in, check-out and billing by actual time.
Sunworker does not decide on compensation for damage. You settle that between yourselves or with your insurers.
Important: These notes do not replace legal or insurance advice. Which insurance you need is best clarified with your insurer.
If you feel unsafe
If there is immediate danger, the emergency call always comes first. Report behaviour in chat or in profiles directly – how to do that is explained in Reporting violations – and what happens next. For anything that happened on site, write to kontakt@sunworker.eu, ideally with the date and the venue, and make a short note of what happened.
Hygiene and food hygiene certificate
Anyone who handles food commercially needs a certificate under § 43 IfSG – in the kitchen as well as front of house. It confirms instruction by the public health office, not a state of health; please do not upload medical documents. Which credentials Sunworker checks is explained in Credentials and expiry dates.
