More about the industries
What you book in each industry, how documents and billing work, and which route is meant for what.
More about Hospitality
Sunworker started in hospitality, and this is where the most is possible today. Restaurants, hotels, canteens and caterers request self-employed professionals for individual shifts: in the kitchen cooks, chefs de partie, sous chefs and pastry chefs, in service waiters, service staff and hosts, at the bar bartenders and sommeliers, plus dishwashers and kitchen helpers.
Typical assignments are a weekend with a full terrace, a station left open because of illness, a banquet or the dish room at a large party. You request a day, a time and a place, and the professional accepts or declines. They set their hourly rate themselves; you see it before you send a request.
A hospitality activity only becomes visible once its documents have been checked: trade licence, the tax office letter with the tax number, a completed apprenticeship or retraining and HACCP training. Stripe verifies identity when the payout account is set up.
Billing follows the time actually worked, to the minute. Surcharges for nights, Sundays and public holidays are set by the professional in their own terms. Anyone who suits your business is easy to find again next time under your known professionals.

More about Events
For a company party, trade fair stand, wedding or a birthday in the garden, you request a self-employed professional for each task: service and bar, kitchen and buffet, reception and cloakroom by hosts, and stagehands to set up and take down stages, stands and furniture.
Events are not only booked by businesses. Private persons can also request professionals for a party with their own private account and see final prices including VAT.
Every task is a separate request with its own time. That way you staff the afternoon setup and the bar until closing separately, and each professional accepts their part themselves. You pay for the actual time, to the minute.

More about Logistics
In logistics one activity is bookable today: event setup and takedown. Stagehands are listed under events because that is where they are mostly needed – for one date, not for a season.
Courier runs with the professional's own vehicle are in preparation: one route, one job. The professional brings vehicle and insurance. This activity is only unlocked with a verified class B driving licence.
Warehouse work, order picking and forklift driving take place within the fixed processes and shifts of a warehouse. As a rule that is employment and not something for the self-employed. For this work, the route through partner staffing agencies licensed for temporary agency work is planned.
More about Retail
In retail we are preparing activities that the self-employed take on as a self-contained job: promotion and product advice on campaign days, merchandising to planogram for brands, and decorating shop windows and promotional areas.
A job here has a clear result – a finished shop window, a campaign day, a rebuilt shelf. The professional names their hourly rate, you send a request, they accept or decline. Nothing in retail is publicly bookable yet.
Sales, checkout and stocktaking belong to the day-to-day running of a shop. This work is meant to come through partner staffing agencies; their temporary staff are employed by the agency.
More about Office
In the office it is about tasks with an agreed result, often location-independent: virtual assistance for appointments, inbox and travel planning, translating and interpreting texts or at a meeting, and bookkeeping help for ongoing transactions.
Bookkeeping help is not tax advice. It is only unlocked with proof of qualification under § 6 No. 4 of the German Tax Advisory Act. Anyone who only translates does not need a trade licence, but does need the tax office letter with the tax number.
Office is in preparation; nothing is publicly bookable here yet. Reception, clerical work and data entry at your workplace are planned for the route through partner staffing agencies.
More about Healthcare
Sunworker does not broker nurses, nursing assistants, medical assistants or care assistants as self-employed professionals. Anyone working in a hospital, care home or home care service works within the facility's processes and duty rosters – as a rule, that is employment.
That is why only one route is planned: staffing agencies with their own licence for temporary agency work offer their employed professionals. The assignment contract runs directly between the agency and the facility. Sunworker is not a party to it and never the employer.
This route is in preparation; nothing in healthcare is bookable yet. Documents, licences and employment contracts stay with the staffing agency.
How a booking works – the same in every industry
Kitchen, trade fair or, later, a courier run: request, acceptance and billing follow the same rules.

Frequently asked questions about the industries
Which industries can I book on Sunworker today?
Hospitality and events. There you will find self-employed cooks, waiters, service staff, bartenders, sommeliers, hosts, dishwashers, kitchen helpers and stagehands. Logistics, retail and office are in preparation, healthcare only via partner staffing agencies.
Are the professionals employed by Sunworker?
No. The professionals are self-employed. They set their own hourly rate, decide on every request themselves and have Sunworker issue the invoice in their name (third-party invoicing). Sunworker brokers bookings and does not supply employees.
What is the difference between self-employed and via partner staffing agencies?
Self-employed via Sunworker: The professional is self-employed. They set their own hourly rate and surcharges, accept or decline each request individually and have Sunworker issue the invoice in their name (third-party invoicing). Sunworker brokers the booking and handles payment through escrow. Today in hospitality and events. Planned for self-contained jobs in logistics, retail and office. Via partner staffing agencies: Staffing agencies with their own licence for temporary agency work assign their employed temporary staff. The agency is the employer, and the assignment contract runs directly between the agency and the company. Sunworker is not a party to it. In preparation for work in day-to-day operations – warehouse, checkout, reception – and for healthcare. Private persons only book the first route.
Why is warehouse, checkout or reception work not available with the self-employed?
This work takes place within a business's fixed processes and shifts, so as a rule it is employment. For it, the route through staffing agencies licensed for temporary agency work is planned; the temporary staff are employed by the agency.
Why does Sunworker not broker self-employed nurses?
Anyone working in a hospital, care home or home care service works within the facility's processes and duty rosters. As a rule, that is employment. In healthcare, the only planned route is therefore through licensed staffing agencies.
How is an assignment billed?
When you confirm, the planned amount is collected and held in escrow on a platform account. After the assignment, the time actually worked counts, to the minute. If it differs, an additional charge or partial refund follows; then the professional is paid out.
Which documents does a professional need?
For the account, usually a trade licence, the tax office letter with the tax number and an identity check via Stripe. On top come documents per activity – in hospitality, for example, an apprenticeship or retraining and HACCP, for courier runs a class B driving licence. Only then is the activity visible.
Can I book as a private person?
Yes, for example for a party at home or in a rented venue. Private persons book only self-employed professionals, not through staffing agencies.
