Sunworker

Get found or get asked: how do you get shifts?

On Sunworker you don’t apply for shifts at venues. Venues find you in the search, or they ask you directly. Both start with your profile – and in both cases you decide whether you work.

A. Venues find you

Venues search for professionals on Sunworker themselves. In the search they pick one or more roles, enter a postcode or a town and, if they like, a date. On top come filters they set themselves: price range, minimum rating, years of experience, languages, level and a valid credential such as the health certificate.

For the location, two limits apply at once: your travel radius and the venue’s search radius. If a venue is further away than you want to travel, you don’t appear in its search – you decide that, not the venue. If a venue has picked a date you have blocked for the whole day, you don’t appear either.

What venues see on your profile

  • Your hourly rate and your terms such as minimum hours and travel costs – you set both yourself.
  • Your ratings from completed shifts and your level.
  • Which credentials Sunworker has checked and how long they are valid.
  • Your roles, your experience and your languages.
  • Whether you have explicitly marked yourself available on the date searched.

Who comes first

Unless a venue chooses otherwise, the search sorts by “Best match”: first those who have entered availability for the date searched, then by distance, average rating and number of ratings, and finally by completed shifts. Ratings only count up to 30, so new profiles get seen too. The order cannot be bought; every criterion is listed under How we sort.

What you can do about it: keep your availability up to date, keep your credentials current and collect ratings. A detailed profile with a photo and text won’t push you up the list – but it helps decide whether a venue that found you actually sends a request.

B. You get a request

Once a venue has found you, it sends you a concrete request. Date, time, place and pay are fixed before you answer. The request appears in your account, on the web and in the app.

You alone decide: you accept or decline, and a decline needs no reason. There is no fixed deadline for answering. If you don’t answer before the shift starts, the request lapses by itself and is shown as expired – with no consequences for your profile or your level.

How a request becomes a shift

  1. Request The venue sends you the date, time, place and pay.
  2. Acceptance Only your acceptance makes the request binding. Until then nothing is agreed.
  3. Confirmation The venue confirms and the amount is collected. It is held in escrow until after the shift.
  4. Shift On the day you check in and out. Afterwards you submit your hours.
  5. Payout Once your hours are confirmed, the payout follows after a clearing period of 72 hours.

You can accept as soon as your billing details are complete and your payout account is set up. That way no confirmed shift can arise that cannot be paid. Sunworker issues the invoice for the shift in your name – or you upload your own.

If you also take jobs from private customers, there is a third way: private customers post a job, for example for a party at home, and you see matching postings under “Jobs”. There you respond once – with your own price or at the fixed price stated – and the private customer awards the job to one professional.

What both have in common: your profile

Whether you are found and whether a venue sends a request depends on your profile. Three things are entirely up to you.

  • Credentials with an expiry date

Upload your health certificate, trainings and qualifications. Sunworker checks every credential, and each one carries an expiry date; an expired one no longer counts as valid in the search. More under Trust.

  • Set your own hourly rate

You set your hourly rate and change it whenever you like. Sunworker only keeps the commission, and it falls with your level. The figures are under Pricing.

  • Calendar and blocked days

Enter when you can work – as single days or as a recurring weekly slot – and block days you don’t work. Those available on the date searched come first; those who blocked it don’t appear.

If you need a break, switch off requests in your profile. For as long as they are off, you don’t appear in the search.

Get found or get asked – in the end it is always you who accepts. With a profile, venues near you can find you.

Your profile is the start. Saying yes is up to you.
