Waiters for hire
Saturday night, a banquet or a wedding with 120 guests: on Sunworker, restaurants, hotels, caterers and private persons book self-employed waiters and serving staff directly – with reviews and a fixed hourly rate.

A waiter for hire – in German “Mietkellner” or “Aushilfskellner” – does not work permanently in one house but takes single shifts and events. They set up a section, take orders, serve, pour and take payment.
On Sunworker these are self-employed waiters and serving staff with their own profile: experience in à la carte, banquets or fine dining, languages, documents, reviews from earlier venues and the hourly rate each sets themselves.
Each shift is booked on its own. Day, time, place and pay are in the request. Once the waiter accepts, the shift is binding. The actual time is billed via check-in and check-out.
Placement, not agency work
“Hiring” a waiter sounds like leasing, but it is not: on Sunworker the venue or private person contracts directly with the self-employed waiter.
Typical shifts for waiters and serving staff on Sunworker.
On Friday and Saturday the regular team is not enough. An extra waiter takes a section without creating a part-time job.
Set menu, flying buffet or champagne reception: banquets need waiters who can plate service and drinks in rhythm.
For marquee, trade-fair stand or festival bar, serving staff come for a day or a whole weekend.
Garden party, birthday or christening: private persons book a waiter who serves, clears and looks after the guests – with no service fee.
Beer garden, terrace, ski hut: waiters for hire absorb seasonal peaks and are free again afterwards.
If someone drops out, searching by day shows only waiters who are free that day – even for the same evening.
Why Sunworker
Every profile shows experience, languages, documents such as the health certificate under § 43 IfSG and reviews from earlier venues. Anyone who has worked for you before appears under “Known professionals”.
Waiters keep their own availability. Searching by day and postcode shows only who is free nearby.
Check-in and check-out at the venue, the venue approves the hours, and the invoice is created automatically. Receipts can go to Lexware Office, sevDesk or the DATEV export.
Every waiter sets their own hourly rate, shown on the profile before you ask. It depends on experience and the shift: banquet service usually costs less than a chef de rang in fine dining.
Sunworker keeps a 15 % commission from the professional. Venues also pay a 15 % service fee on the order value. Account, search and requests are free, and there is no base fee.
Private persons pay no service fee. Surcharges for nights, Sundays and holidays are fixed in advance.
Four steps from account to billed shift.
Name, address and contact person. It takes a few minutes and costs nothing.
Filter by role, postcode and date. Every profile shows the hourly rate, experience, reviews and credentials.
Enter the date, time and location. The professional accepts or declines; the shift only becomes binding once they accept.
The professional checks in and out on site. You are billed for the actual time worked, and the receipt appears in your account afterwards.
As soon as a waiter accepts – even for the same evening. The search can be narrowed to one day and only shows who is available.
Every waiter sets their own hourly rate, shown on the profile. Venues also pay a 15 % service fee, private persons none. There is no base fee.
Yes. For a banquet or wedding, send one request per waiter for the same date. Each accepts individually, and hours are billed per waiter.
No. The waiters are self-employed and make the contract for the shift directly with the venue or private person. Sunworker places and handles the payment.
Many waiters bring black-and-white service clothing. Agree on what is usual at your place in the chat with the waiter before the shift.
