Sunworker

Insurance and liability

The professional works on their own account and is responsible for their own insurance; your venue is liable for its premises and equipment as it would be towards any other service provider.

What the professional covers

As a self-employed person, the professional is responsible for their own insurance. Sunworker recommends that every professional takes out business liability insurance and, depending on the role, checks with the relevant statutory accident insurance institution (Berufsgenossenschaft) before the first shift.

What your venue covers

  • Your venue is liable for its premises, equipment and safety at the location — as it would be towards any other service provider working there.
  • Point out hazards such as hot equipment, cleaning agents or steps in the storeroom.
  • Check with your insurer whether your business liability insurance covers damage caused by self-employed service providers on site.

Sunworker’s role

Sunworker is an intermediary and not a party to the shift contract. The platform is therefore not liable for the work itself or for damage that occurs during a shift.

In the event of an accident or damage

  1. First make sure first aid is given and call the emergency services if needed.
  2. Record what happened: time, place, people involved.
  3. Settle the damage with the professional and the respective insurers.
  4. If it affects how the shift went — for example if it ended early — dispute the actual hours with a short reason.

If you cannot agree

In a dispute about times, Sunworker decides based on what the platform has recorded. Sunworker does not decide on compensation for damage — you settle that between yourselves or with your insurers.

These notes do not replace legal or insurance advice. It is best to check with your insurer which cover you need.

Clear arrangements in advance avoid most disputes: what needs to be done belongs in the request note.
