Requesting a shift

You choose the role, days, times and location, describe the result you need and see what the shift will cost before you send it.

What goes into a request

  1. Open the professional’s profile and choose “Request”.
  2. Choose the role and one or more days — up to 31, with one entry per calendar day with start, end and break.
  3. Choose the location. Your venue address is the default; you can add more locations in your profile.
  4. State the credentials the shift requires and, optionally, the department.
  5. Describe the result in the note: occasion, scope, menu, number of guests.
  6. Check the preview and send the request.

A shift day may be at most 16 hours long, with a break of up to 240 minutes.

Describe the result, do not give instructions

The professional is self-employed. So describe what needs to be done — “service for a wedding with 80 guests, three-course menu” — not how they should work. Rotas, instructions on procedure or fixed working hours beyond the shift do not belong in a request.

Instructions and working together explains why this matters.

The preview

Before you send it, Sunworker shows the plan for each day with surcharges, travel and amounts. The professional’s hourly rate, surcharges, travel costs and cancellation scale are recorded with the request.

When a request is not possible

  • The professional is already booked at that time or has blocked the day.
  • The shift is shorter than their minimum hours.
  • The conversation between you is blocked.
  • Your venue has an outstanding amount that has been unpaid for more than seven days.

The professional accepts or declines. What happens next is described in How a shift works. Job postings that professionals apply for are only available to private individuals.
