Escrow and payment collection: when you pay
When you confirm, the full amount is collected and held in escrow by the platform; after the shift it is settled according to the actual hours, with an additional charge or a refund.
Collection on confirmation
As soon as you confirm an acceptance, Sunworker collects the full amount from your default payment method: pay with surcharges and travel, VAT where applicable, and the service fee. Without a successful payment, a shift is not confirmed.
What “escrow” means
Between confirmation and completion, the money sits in the platform’s account and belongs neither to you nor to the professional. That way, the professional knows before the shift that the money is there. Only after completion and a clearing period of 72 hours is it paid out to them. This is handled via Stripe.
Settlement by actual hours
- If the shift ran longer, the extra amount is charged to the same payment method.
- If it was shorter, you are refunded the difference.
- With a fixed price, neither applies.
If an additional charge fails
If an additional charge fails — for example because the card has expired — you will see the outstanding amount under Finances with a “Try again” button. You have seven days. After that you cannot request new shifts until the amount is settled; you can still confirm existing shifts.
Sunworker is an intermediary and does not pay in advance. An outstanding amount is a claim by the professional against your venue.
On cancellation
If you cancel, you get the amount back minus any compensation; the service fee is refunded. Days of a shift already under way that have been worked are invoiced normally, with service fee. If the professional cancels, everything not yet worked is refunded. Details under Cancelling a shift.
Stripe is a regulated payment service provider. Sunworker does not see full card or account details.
