Cancelling a shift
You can cancel any shift; after confirmation, the cancellation scale determines what share goes to the professional as compensation — if the professional cancels, you get everything back.
Before confirmation
As long as a shift is only requested or accepted, no money has changed hands. Cancelling then costs nothing.
After confirmation
Once the shift is confirmed, the professional has kept the day free for you. The later you cancel, the larger the share of the agreed pay that is due to them as compensation. For shifts over several days, the scale applies to each day separately, measured from the start of that day; under the standard scale, days more than 48 hours away cost nothing. The standard scale:
- Cancellation more than 48 hours before the startThe client pays nothing; the amount collected is refunded in full.
- 0%
- Cancellation 24 to 48 hours before the startA quarter of the agreed pay, because the day is hard to fill again.
- 25%
- Cancellation less than 24 hours before the startHalf: the professional kept the day free and can no longer find a replacement.
- 50%
- Cancellation after the start or no-showThe full pay. For the client and the professional alike.
- 100%
The standard scale. What counts is the scale recorded with the request.
The professional can set their own scale in their terms. What counts is the scale recorded with your request — you can see it in the shift.
How to cancel
- Open the shift under Shifts.
- Choose “Cancel”. Sunworker shows you beforehand what amount will be due.
- Confirm the cancellation. The professional is notified immediately.
What happens to the money
- You get back the amount collected, minus the compensation. If you cancel a shift that is already under way, the days already worked or begun are invoiced normally, with pay and service fee; the rest is refunded.
- The service fee is refunded in full when you cancel.
- You receive a separate receipt for the compensation, broken down by day of the shift. Whether VAT is charged on it depends on the professional’s choice in their conditions (damages without VAT, fee with VAT).
- If the professional cancels, you pay nothing: the amount collected is refunded in full.
An example
On Thursday evening you cancel a confirmed shift that starts at 6 pm on Friday — so less than 24 hours beforehand. Under the standard scale, the professional is then entitled to half of the agreed pay. You get the rest and the full service fee back on your payment method. Had you cancelled on Tuesday, it would have been free.
If the professional does not turn up at all, you do not cancel but record a no-show.
