When the venue cancels

If a venue cancels a confirmed shift at short notice, you are entitled to compensation under the cancellation scale; before confirmation, cancelling is free for both sides.

Before confirmation

As long as a shift is only requested or accepted, no money has changed hands. If the venue cancels then, no compensation is due. You receive a notification, and the day is free again in your calendar.

After confirmation

Once the shift is confirmed, you have kept the day free. The later the venue cancels, the larger the share of the agreed pay you are entitled to as compensation. For shifts over several days, the scale applies to each day separately, measured from the start of that day; under the standard scale, days more than 48 hours away cost nothing. The standard scale:

Cancellation more than 48 hours before the startThe client pays nothing; the amount collected is refunded in full.
0%
Cancellation 24 to 48 hours before the startA quarter of the agreed pay, because the day is hard to fill again.
25%
Cancellation less than 24 hours before the startHalf: the professional kept the day free and can no longer find a replacement.
50%
Cancellation after the start or no-showThe full pay. For the client and the professional alike.
100%

The standard scale. What counts is the scale recorded with the request.

If you have set a more lenient scale in your terms, that one applies. What counts is always the scale recorded with the request — you can see it in the shift. Sunworker does not allow a scale that is stricter than the standard scale.

What happens to the money

  • If Sunworker creates your invoices, a draft of a separate invoice in your name is created for the compensation, which you check like any invoice. If you upload your own invoices, Sunworker creates nothing in your name: upload your own invoice for the stated target amount here too, and the payout follows.
  • It is damages — without VAT and without commission.
  • Like any pay, it is transferred to your payout account after the clearing period of 72 hours. It appears in “Finances” like any other shift.

An example

A venue cancels your confirmed shift on Thursday evening; it was due to start on Friday at 18:00. That is less than a day before, so the row for cancellations under 24 hours applies. Had the venue cancelled on Tuesday, it would have been free for them.

Cancellations by the venue do not count against your level. They feed into the venue’s reliability, which professionals see before every acceptance.
